The Analysis of the Reading Materials and Competence in "Talk Active" Textbook Based on the 2013 Curiculum for the Second Grade Students of SMA Muhammadiyah 5 East Tebet in the 2015-2016 Academic Year

This study was aimed to find out whether the reading materials and
competence of semester 1 in Talk Active textbook for the Second Grade Students
of SMA Muhammadiyah 5 East Tebet were in line with the 2013 Curriculum or
not.
The writer used a comparative-descriptive analysis method. In this analysis,
there was no hypothesis test and the method was categorized into qualitative
method. The writer had compared the objective of reading, the reading materials,
and the learning activities of reading in both textbook and the 2013 curriculum.
Then, the writer presented the results of analysis descriptively.
After exploring, comparing, and calculating the data, the writer found the
total of the percentages of reading aspects into: the objectives of reading were
39.9% (poor), the reading materials were 95.2% (very good), and the learning
activities of reading covered with: 1) the observing, 91.6% (very good), 2) the
questioning, 41.6% (fair), 3) the exploring, 50% (fair), 4) the associating, 66.6%
(good), 5) the communicating, 100% (very good) which were based on the 2013
Curriculum. The total point of the three tables are 7 points and the writer found 4
points which were appropriate with Arikunto's scheme. In other words, the Talk
Active textbook for the second grade of SMA Muhammadiyah 5 East Tebet
written by Lanny Kurniawan, published in 2014 by Yudhistira Press were in line
with the 2013 Curriculum and could be used as the source of instructional material
for both teachers and students to achieve the objective of teaching and learning.
