The objective of this study was to find out whether the English Summative test for eleventh grade students of MAN 8 Jakarta had good quality or not by analyzing the Facility Value (FV) and the Discriminating Power (DP).This study was conducted at MAN 8 Jakarta on August 2015. The respondents of the study were by students of two classes. IPA XI 1 Class (32 students) and IPA XI 2 Class (32 students). The English Summative test papers with 50 multiple choice and student’s answer sheets were used as the instruments for collecting the data.
Based on the difficulty level, the writer had got 5 items (10%) were categorized difficult, 18 items (36%) were categorized medium, and 27 items (54%) were categorized easy items. Based on the discriminating power, there was no item that was categorized as excellent; but 8 items (16%) were categorized good items; 11 items (22%) were categorized satisfactory items; 7 items (14%) are categorized poor or revised items; while 24 items (48%) were categorized very poor or discarded.
Based on the calculation above, the writer concluded that the English Summative test administered in MAN 8 Jakarta could be categorized as bad test because of the dominance of those items that were not qualified.
