The objective of the research is to find the empirical evidence of the effectiveness of using Think Pair Share technique in teaching descriptive text writing to the first semester of the tenth grade students of SMAN 1 Muaragembong.
The writer used pre-experimental method. The population of the research was 183 students in the first semester. The samples were 30 students taken from one class using purposive sampling technique. The writer collected the data by using pre-test and post-test as the instrument of the research. The technique of data analysis used in the research was through the t-test formula.
The result of the Lilliefors analysis shows that the data of experimental class normally distributed. Furthermore, the result of t-test gives 4.06 for t-observed and 1.70 for t-table. Because to > tt (4.06>1.70), it is concluded that the use of Think Pair Share technique is effective in teaching descriptive writing of the tenth grade students of SMAN 1 Muaragembong, in the 2015/2016 Academic Year.
