The objective of this research is to get empirical answer to the problem statement
whether or not the English summative test for the tenth grade students of SMA N
3 Tangerang in the second semester in the 2014/2015 academic year is reliable.
In this research, the writer used quantitative survey method. The population of
respondents in this research were the tenth grade students of SMA N 3 Tangerang.
There were 10 classes which consisted of around 380 students. The writer used
purposive sampling and took 36 students from X Science 1 as the sample of the
research. The data that the writer got from the research were analyzed by using
Pearson’s Product Moment Correlation analysis.
Based on data analysis, it was found that the observed coefficient (ro) was 0.84
and the value of r-distribution table (rt) was 0.329. Because ro was higher than rt
(0.84> 0.329), so Hi was accepted and Ho was rejected. It proved to the writer to
make conclusion thatthe English Summative test for the tenth grade students of
SMA N 3 Tangerang in the second semester in the 2014/2015 Academic Year was
reliable.
