The objective of the research is to find out the empirical evidence on the effectiveness of using Make a Match technique in teaching reading comprehension to the tenth grade students of SMK Muhammadiyah 2 Cileungsi. The writer used a pre-experimental method. The population in the research is all tenht grade students which consist of four classes. They are X A – X D, 120 students in the tenth grade. The samples were 30 students taken from class X-B using random sampling technique. The result of the Lilliefors analysis shows that the data of the pre-test and post-test in experimental class are normally distributed. Furthermore, the result of the t-test gives 1.70 for t-observed and 8.34 for t-table. Because to > tt (8.34 > 1.70), it is conclude that the use of Think Pair Share technique is effective in teaching reading comprehension to the tenth grade students of SMK Muhammadiyah 2, in the 2014/2015 academic year. It is expected that the findings of this research will enrich the students’ knowledge related on their reading comprehension. In addition, the findings are also expected to able to serve as reference point for the teachers to use the make a match technique in the classroom.
