This research is to find out the effectiveness of pictures toward teaching vocabulary on the 4th grade students of elementary school. The samples were taken from two classes of 4th grade. The population in this research was 60 students, consists of IV A and IV B. The writer used an quasai experimental method.
The data that the writer got from the research were using the t-test formula. The data analysis found that the t₀ is higher than tᵼ (4.07 > 1.67) with 0.05 significant level. It means that the use of pictures technique on teaching vocabulary is effective. It can be concluded that using pictures in teaching vocabulary is effective and success. Students can memorize and understand the difficult words easily by looking the pictures. Using pictures make the vocabulary learning process interesting, enjoyable and more effective in classroom.
