The objective of this reseach was to find the empirical evidence of the effectiveness of using Task-Based Language Learning (TBLL) method in teaching students‘ reading comprehension to the ninth grade students of the 230 junior secondary school East Jakarta in the 2014/2015 academic year. The research was conducted from 16th September 2014 up to 24th September 2014. The writer employed a pre-experimental method. The population was 315 students in the ninth grade which devided into nine classes. The sample was 30 students taken from IX-1 by using purposive cluster sampling. The data were collected through the pre-test and post-test and analysed by employing t-test formula. The result of this research analysis showed that Task-Based Language Learning (TBLL) is significantly effective in teaching reading comprehension to the ninth grade students of the 230 junior secondary school East Jakarta in the 2014/2015 academic year. The calculation of the data showed that t0 = 8,55 and tt = 1.70. Because the t0 > tt the null hypothesis was rejected. It could be concluded that Task-Based Language Learning (TBLL) method has been effective in teaching reading comprehension to the ninth grade students of the 230 junior secondary school East Jakarta in the 2014/2015 academic year.
