The objective of the study was to find out the empirical evidence of the
conformity of the basic competences of English textbook entitled Bahasa Inggris
for the Eleventh Grade Students of SMA/SMK/MA/MAK with the syllabus of
English of 2013 Curriculum at the first and second semester. The writer applied a
descriptive comparative analysis method through which she used the checklists as
the instruments. The results showed that the four competences required in the
syllabus, such as, analyzing, synthesizing, getting meaning, and editing have been
developed in five chapters in the first semester. The existence was 100% that means
very good. While there were five competences required in the syllabus for the
second semester, such as, analyzing, synthesizing, getting meaning, editing, and
mentioning were developed in six chapters. The existence is 100% which means
very good. The conclusion was the basic competences in English syllabus of 2013
Curriculum has conformed to the requirements of the textbook entitled Bahasa
Inggris.
