The objective of this study is to find out the empirical evidence of The Effectiveness of Using Movie in Teaching Writing of Narrative Text on the Eleventh Grade Students of SMA An-nurmaniyah Tangerang Selatan, in 2015/2016 Academic Year”. The population of this study is the students of SMA AN-NURMANIYAH Tangerang on the eleventh grade. The total is 111 students from (XI mia1, XI IIS1, XI IIS2). The sample is taken by using purposive sampling technique. It consists of 30 students from the XI Mia1.
The writer uses pre-experimental method in one class of the eleventh grade students. The design of pre-experiment deals with pre-test, treatment, and post-test. It was taken on August up to September 2015. The data that the writer got by using the t-test formula.
Based on the result of the experiment by using movie in teaching narrative writing, it is found that the t-observed (1.70) from df (29) in the significant level of 0.05. Due to the fact that to>tt, it means the Ho is rejected and the Hi is accepted. It can be concluded that the use of movie in teaching narrative writing is effective. Therefore, the movie can be used as an alternative media for the English teacher especially for the senior high school teachers to attract the students’ interests and motivation in learning narrative writing.
