The purpose of this reseach was to find empirical evidence of whether or not the English summative test for evelenth grade students of SMA Muhammadiyah 4 East Jakarta in the second semester of the 2014/2015 academic year has the quality of a good test in term of facility value, discriminating power, and the effectiveness of options. The English summative test was administered on 11th June 2015. The respondents of this research were the eleventh grade students. There are four classes, they are: MIA 1, MIA 2, MIA 3, IIS. The writer only took minimum sample 30% (44 respondents) from the eleventh grade students as a sample of respondents. Moreover, the writer ranked the students from the highest up to the lowest score, and took 27% from the highest score as the upper group and 27% from the lowest score as the lower group. Each group consisted of 12 respondents.
From the result of the item analysis based on facility value, the writer has got the data that were have been 5 difficult items (12.5%), 19 medium items (47.5%), and 16 easy items (40%). Based on the result of the item analysis in term of discriminating power, the writer has got the data that there have been 12 test items or 30% that did not have good quality; they were 2 rejected items (5%) and 10 poor items (25%). From the result of the items analysis in term of effectiveness of options, based of the effectiveness of answer key the writer got the data that were have been 23 effective answer keys (57.5%), 15 less effective answer keys (37.5%), and 2 ineffective answer keys (5%). Moreover, based the effectiveness of distractor the writer gor the data that were 60 effective distractors (37.5%), 50 less effective distractors (31.25%), and 50 ineffective distractors (31.25%).
The writer concludes that the English summative test for the eleventh grade students of SMA Muhammadiyah 4 East Jakarta in the second semester of the 2014/2015 academic year in general hasn’t good quality.
