The objective of this research is to find empirical evidence of the effectiveness of using crossword game in teaching vocabulary to the eighth students of SMPN 10 Bekasi. The data was taken on May 2015. The population of this research was the students of SMPN 10 Bekasi. The writer use pre-experimental method in which the writer used only one class as the sample of the research. The writer administered pre-test before the treatment to find out the students level of vocabulary. After the treatment, the writer administered a post-test to see whether or not the teaching vocabulary using crossword game is effective. The data that the writer got from the research were using t-test formula. From the computation of the data, it was found the (to) 10,24 from df (29) on degree of significance level was 1,70. Because to > tt it means the Ho is rejected and the Hi is accepted. So it can be conclude that crossword game is effective in teaching vocabulary to the eighth grade students of SMPN 10 Bekasi in the 2015/2016 academic year.
