The objective of this study to find the empirical evidence of whether or not the test can be categorized as a good test based on the difficulty level, and the discriminating power. The English summative test was held on December, 1st 2015, at SMPN 1 Tigaraksa which is located on Jl. Ki Mas Laeng No. 70 Tigaraksa – Kabupaten Tangerang. The respondents of the study were the second grade students of SMPN 1 Tigaraksa-Tangerang in the 2015/2016 academic year. The total numbers of the student were 261 students. The writer took two classes which consist of 63 students. The writer took out 27% (17 students) who got highest scores for the upper group, and 27% (17 students) who got the lowest scores for the lower group. Then, the writer calculates the DL and D formula of each item. The finding of this analysis shows that the English summative test at SMPN 1 Tigaraksa-Tangerang has the medium quality, because there have been 8 easy items (21%), 27 medium items (69%), and 4 difficult items (10%). In the tabulation of discriminating power, it showed that there are 9 items or 23% from multiple choice that should be revised. Therefore, it was stated that English summative test in the for the eighth grade students in the first semester of SMPN 1 Tigaraksa-Tangerang in the 2015/2016 has fulfiled the chriteria of a good test in term of difficulty level and discriminating power.
