The aims of the research are to measure the quality of items and to find the weak items from the summative test which have been carried out in SMK (SMEA) ISLAM MALAHAYATI Jakarta through item analysis. Afterward, the weak items are selected and revised in order to increase their quality.
The population of this research was 151 students‟ answer sheet of English summative test from five classes of the second semester of the eleventh grade students of SMK (SMEA) ISLAM MALAHAYATI Jakarta. The writer took 30% (46 answer sheets) from the population to be as the samples. All the samples were taken randomly and selected to get the group of the upper students and the lower students. The data from the upper students and the lower students were interpreted through quantitative method.
The results of the research have shown that through the calculation of Facility Value (FV), The writer finds 2 (5%) very easy items, 17 (42.5%) easy items, 13 (20%) medium items, 6 (15%) difficult items, and 2 (5%) very difficult items. In addition, through the calculation of Discriminating Power (DP), the writer finds no one very poor item, 5 (12.5%) poor item which need to be revised, 9 (22.5%) satisfactory items, 21 (52.5%) good items, and 5 (12.5%) excellent items. Based on the data above, it can be concluded that the English summative test which had been carried out at the second semester of the eleventh grade students of SMK (SMEA) ISLAM MALAHAYATI Jakarta in 2014 – 2015 academic year is good enough. Nevertheless, there are some weak (poor) items those need to be revised.
