The purpose of the study was to find the empirical evidence of whether or not
the writing materials in the English textbook entitled “BUPENA” for the tenth
grade students written by Sari K. D was in line with the Curriculum 2013. The
study was conducted on August 1st 2015 in SMA Muhammadiyah 15. The
location of SMA Muhammadiyah 15 is in Jl. Anggrek Neli Murni Blok B-C,
Komplek Slipi, West Jakarta. The method which was used in conducting this
research was qualitative research. The object of this study was the concordance of
the writing materials in the textbook entitled BUPENA published by Erlangga,
with the ones stated in English syllabus for senior high school.
In this analysis, the writer compared the writing objectives, the writing
materials, and the writing activities in the textbook based on the syllabus of
Curriculum 2013. Then, the writer presented the result of analysis descriptively.
After comparing and analyzing the data, the conformity of the writing aspects,
consisted of writing objectives, learning materials for writing, and writing
activities, found in the English textbook entitled “BUPENA” with the Curriculum
2013 was 86.69%.
Based on Arikunto’s scheme of conformity, this result (86.69%) was
categorized as excellent. Based on the result, it could be concluded that the
BUPENA Textbook for the tenth grade students written by Sari K.D was in line
with the 2013 Curriculum, and it could be used as a source of instructional
materials for the teachers and the students to achieve the objective of teachinglearning.
