The objective of this study is to get the emphirical evidence and to examine whether or not watching English animated films is effective in teaching English listening to the first grade students of SMP The Indonesia Natural School Depok in the 2014 – 2015 Academic Year.
The population of this study was all the first grade students of SMP The Indonesia Natural School Depok in the 2014 -2015 academic year. There were 33 students who were divided into two classes, VII A class consisting of 16 students and VII B consisting 17 students. The writer involved all the students in this study. The writer used pre-experimental design. The data were collected through listening test and analyzed by employing t-test formula.
The finding of the research showed that Watching English Animated Films was significantly effective in teaching English listening to the first grade students of SMP The Indonesia Natural School Depok in the 2014 – 2015 academic year.
The calculation of the data showed that to = 6,43 and tt = 1.70. Because the to is higher than tt (to > tt), the null hypothesis was rejected. As the result, it proves that the use of watching English animated films was effective in teaching English listening to the first grade students of SMP The Indonesia Natural School Depok in the 2014 – 2015 academic year.
