Teaching Students’ Vocabulary of the First Semester on the Eighth Grade
Students at MTs NURUSSALAM Jakarta in the 2015/2016 Academic Year. A

The aim of the research is to find out whether teaching vocabulary by
using English songs is more effective than teaching vocabulary without using
English songs. The writer uses a true-experiment. The population of the research
is 50 students of the eight grade. The sample of the research is 50 students. Based
on the research, the result of the experiment shows this use of English songs is
effective for improving students’ vocabulary in teaching and learning vocabulary.
The result as follows: t- observed is 10.38 and t- table with df 24 is 1.71.
Because t0 > tt. It means there is significant for improving in students’
vocabulary. In other words, the song can make the students learn English easily
and provide them with enjoyable situation of learning vocabulary. Therefore, this
result gives information for the other teachers to know that by using English songs
are appropriate technique to make the teaching and learning activities more
effective.
