The objective of this research was to get the empirical evidence whether there is a relationship or not between students’ motivation and their reading achievement on the second grade students of SMP Negeri 10 Bekasi in the 2011-2012 academic year.
The method of the research used was a survey method. The population of the research consists of 320 students whom selected randomly. The instruments used for getting the data were questionnaire about motivation and a reading comprehension test. The scores of the students were calculated by using Pearson’s Product Moment Correlation.
The calculation of Pearson’s Product Moment result the "r" correlation 0.979. With df= 28 in 0.05 significant standard got "rt" table 0.361. In other words, r-observe is higher than r-table (ro > rt). As in consequence, work hypothesis was accepted and null hypothesis was rejected. So, it can be concluded that there is a relationship between students’ motivation and their reading achievement on the second grade students of SMP Negeri 10 Bekasi in the 2011-2012 academic year.
