The relationship between the tenth grade students' intelligence and their reading comprehension at SMA Mandiri Balaraja in the 2012/2013 academic year

The paper is to know whether or not there is significant relationship
between students’ intelligence and their reading comprehension. The independent variable (X) in this research is Students’ Intelligence and variable (Y) is the Reading Comprehension. It was conducted in June 1st, 2013 of the tenth at SMA Mandiri Balaraja. The writer used a quantitative method and involving a correlation analysis. The population in this research was 67 students. There are 22 students to be used in this research. The technique of sampling was random due to the tenth of SMA Mandiri Balaraja consist of two classes. The writer took 11 students from each class as the sample of being thee respondents of this research. The result of the analysis the data, it is found that both sample data (X and Y) are normally distributed because Lo < Lt X data (0.128 < 0.183), Y data (0,174 < 0.183). The correlation found is rvalue = 1.114 and rt = 0,404 in a significant 0.05 with n = 22. Because rvalue > rt, so Ho is rejected and Hi is
accepted, meaning that there is significant relationship between students’ intelligence and their reading comprehension of the tenth grade at SMA Mandiri Balaraja – Tangerang.
